Technical Adviser of Plateau United, Fidelis Ilechukwu has congratulated Rivers United for winning the 2021/2022 Nigeria Professional Football League (NPFL) title, OwoSports.com.ng reports.
Ilechukwu ‘The Working One’, described Rivers United feat as well deserved in view of their impressive performance right from the start of the season.
“Rivers United are worthy champions of the league. Their performance at home and away, were that of a champion, as they remained focused and determined till the title was won, with less than four matches to go.”
He charged his players to brace up for the challenges ahead and ensure they maintain their second position on the NPFL log which is good enough to guarantee a continental ticket.
The former MFM and Heartland Coach explained that the remaining matches are important in realizing the club’s objectives of picking a continental ticket which the second position guarantees and urged them to avoid any form of distraction and complacency.
He explained that with three matches to go and eight points separating his team with Remo Stars, who are third on the log, every match counts, to ensure that the team feature in the CAF Champions League next season.
“Now that the league has been won by Rivers United, we must put our acts together and ensure that we win our remaining matches to pick the second CAF Champions League spot, so as to crown our efforts and give our loyal fans and the good people of Plateau State, something better to cheer about.
Plateau United will on Sunday host Lobi Stars in a MatchDay 36 fixture at the Jos International Stadium.
