RS Berkane Take Slim Lead into CAF Confederation Cup Final Second Leg

Morocco’s RS Berkane will travel to Egypt for the second leg of the TotalEnergies CAF Confederation Cup Final with a slender 2-1 advantage over Zamalek, thanks to a thrilling first leg encounter at the Berkane Municipal Stadium on Sunday evening.

The Orange Boys took control of the game from the start, with captain Issoufou Dayo converting a penalty in the 10th minute to give his side the lead. Adil Tahif doubled the hosts’ advantage in the 32nd minute with a well-taken header from a corner.

Zamalek returned from the break with renewed energy and quickly reduced the deficit through Seifeddine Jaziri’s powerful header in the 46th minute. Despite their efforts, the Egyptians couldn’t break down the stubborn RS Berkane defense, led by the experienced Dayo.

The match ended 2-1 in favor of RS Berkane, setting up a highly anticipated second leg in Cairo on Sunday, May 19, at 19:00 GMT. The winner will claim the TotalEnergies CAF Confederation Cup title.
