Super Eagles left-back Zaidu Sanusi has renewed his contract at FC Porto which will see him remain at the Portuguese champions until 2027.
The 25-year-old left-back arrived at Invicta in 2020 from Santa Clara and has represented the Dragons on 91 occasions.
Porto posted a statement on their website announcing the contract extension.
Zaidu Sanusi after signing his contract spoke to the media and said he is excited in penning a new deal for the club.
“I am very happy to have renewed my contract with FC Porto until 2027. It is very important for me.”
And on scoring his first Champions League goal:“It was a very important goal for me, for the club, for the President and it made me very happy. I am even more fulfilled for having renewed.
“I hope to score many more goals and celebrate more victories here.” Sanusi said after his contract extension.
The President of Portuguese sports club FC Porto since 1982 Jorge Nuno Pinto da Costa, said the team led by the coach only wanted to hand those players that are important to his side a new contract.
“We want to renew with all the players that the coach thinks are important and it’s not just these four”
Sanusi, a Jega, Kebbi native, signed with Gil Vicente F.C. of the Portuguese Primeira Liga in 2016 and was loaned to SC Mirandela in January 2017.
Sanusi and C.D. Santa Clara reached an agreement on March 16th, 2019, and it went into effect on July 1st.
He made his professional debut on September 15 of that same year, entering as a late substitute in a 2-0 home win over Moreirense FC.
On June 23, 2020, he scored his first goal of the season in a 4-3 away victory over S.L. Benfica was the Azoreans’ first-ever opponent at the Estadio da Luz.
The defender for Fc Porto has played 12 times for Nigeria, including in the AFCON in Cameroon in 2021.
