Farouk AbdulRazaq, son of Kwara State governor, Mall. AbdulRahaman Abdulrazaq, says that the abundance of soccer talents in the state is incredible, explaining also that the idea of exploiting them informed the ongoing Kwara State/FA Sports Talent Hunt.
The talent hunt taking place Monday and Tuesday has 14 states taking part in the program with two from Lagos and Ghana.
“We have abundance of talents here in Kwara and we want to put an eye on to it,” explained Mr Abdulrazaq.
Kwara State has in recent times witnessed upsurge in investment in sporting talent hunt which, largely has been as result of the state government’s huge investment in the sporting sector.
Mr Abdulrazaq said that he to leverage on his UK contact and FA Sports to start in earnest talent sporting and exploiting program for the youths in Kwara.
“Fortunately I have some friends in the football circles.
“With them we can bring players into Europe, whether in Spain or UK.
” I thought this would be perfect opportunity.
” I spoke to the executive governor and he said it was a good idea.
“Next step is equally critical but first we need to present the guys with the idea that they can do things for themselves and be a success,” he said.
Speaking in support of the initiative, Coach Bola Mogaji, executive chairman, Kwara Sports Commission, KSC, said that the state is always open to initiatives such as this.
“I can assure you this is just the begining. We have other talent spotting event lined up in the days ahead, ahead,” he said.
