Sergio Busquets Announces His Retirement From International Football

Spain and Barcelona midfielder, Sergio Busquets has announced his retirement from international football following his country’s World Cup disappointment in Qatar.

The Spanish national side crashed out in the last 16 after a penalty shootout loss to Morocco Atlas Lions.

The Barcelona midfielder announced earlier in the day that he will follow manager Luis Enrique in leaving the national side.

He made his International debut in 2009 and followed with another 142 caps for his country in 15 years.

His successful career with Spain’s national team includes the FIFA Confederations Cup third-place medal in 2009, the World Cup in 201O, the UEFA European Championship in 2012, the FIFA Confederations Cup runner-up medal in 2013, and the UEFA Nations League runner-up medal in 2021.
