Leicester City midfielder, Wilfred Ndidi has withdrawn from this month’s African Cup of Nations (AFCON) in Cote d’Ivoire.
The influential midfield mestro sustained the setback while in action for his English club, prompting concerns about his availability for the continental showdown, in a swift response to the latest developments the Nigeria Football Federation (NFF) has replaced the Midfielder with Royal Antwerp’s Alhassan Yusuf.
The 23 year old Yusuf who has been exceptional for his club with was included in the Eagles 40-man provisional squad for the competition he will link up with the team’s camp in Abu Dhabi.
The Super Eagles will be camped in Abu Dhabi, United Arab Emirates (UAE), for a one-week training camp before flying back to Lagos on January 9 and proceeding to Ivory Coast on the 10th of January.
The Eagles are in Group A alongside Ivory Coast, Equatorial Guinea and Guinea-Bissau.
Nigeria will take on Equatorial Guinea in their opening game before facing host Ivory Coast and rounding off the group stage with the Guinea-Bissau tie.
The competition kicks off on January 13.
