In the Kwara FA elective congress held on Tuesday, June 13th 2023, in Kaiama Kwara North. The incumbent chairman, Abdullahi Idris Thuraya pulled 19 votes to beat his opposition Engineer Olaide who pulled just 4 votes.
The President of SGFC Athletics SC in his congratulatory message issued on Tuesday June 13th 2023, through the club’s Media Director Victor Michael James popular know as (Tosh Michael), reads, “I am excited about your re-election which is no doubt a reaffirmation that you enjoy a deep rooted confidence from the good people of Kwara State and from the football stakeholders in the state. This is indeed a victory for Kwarans.
This victory is a clear testament to the fact that you did amazingly well in your first tenure as the chairman and the people have yet again entrusted to you the affairs of running football in the state for the next four years.
“This victory is also an exemplary demonstration of capacity and dedication, a bold and emphatic testimony, of your hardwork, commitment and passion towards the development of football in Kwara State .
“I have no doubt in your abilities and your hunger for success, and I want to urge the people of Kwara State, Football Stakeholders to give you the needed support as you alongside your board paddle the affairs of football in the state; it is my hope that you will record more beautiful milestones in the development of football in the State.
