Two time African Cup of Nation winning French manager Harve Renard has set his sight on a possible reunion with African football as he set his eyes on a managerial roll with the Ghanaian national team, the Black Stars.
The Former Zambia, Ivory Coast and Morocco gaffer who led Zambia to a surprised AFCON glory in 2012, also guided the West African power house Ivory Coast to the most coveted trophy on the continent of Africa in 2015, before handling a Moroccan team who got dumped out at the second round of 2019 African Cup of Nations by minos Benin Republic, has not ruled out a return to Africa.
The current Saudi Arabia national team head coach Herve Renard has revealed that he would be keen to return to Ghana to win the African Cup of Nations trophy once again.
Renard who was the assistant coach to Claude Ley Roy during the 2008 AFCON tournament which was staged in Ghana.
1982 was the last time the Black Stars of Ghana tasted success on the Africa soil, losing to Egypt in the 2010 finals was the closet they’ve come towards clinching the title in thirty eight years.
“Yes I have to come back one day to help one country to win, and that country hasn’t won it for a long time,” and that’s is your country, Ghana, I will love to win this feat with the Black Stars,” he told Ghana’s TV3.
Ghana Football Association GFA has however mandated current coach CK Akonnor to ensure that he bring home the trophy with Ghana at the next African cup of Nations showpiece in Cameroon next year.
