SND U-17 Tourney: Two Second Half Goals Sends De AbdulBest Into Final

De AbdulBest Academy are through to the finals of the Sea Never Dry U-17 football competition after defeating Embassy 2-0 in the Semi final on a rainy Tuesday evening.

The match which began under a heavy down pour at the Supreme Distilleries field Iju-Ota, Ogun state witnessed a stiff affair as both teams where struggling to get by with the slippery surface of the pitch, as kino chance was created in the first half, 0-0 it ended.

Sanusi Malik broke the deadlock just two minutes inside the Second half after he lunched into a lose ball to power in a beautiful left footed strike to send De AbdulBest into the lead as the team began the second half on a brilliant note.

Embassy looked unsettled with lack of ideas as they fell further behind on the 53rd minutes as Olushesi Lateef pounce on a through ball from Yekini Adeleke to drible pass the on rushing goalkeeper before unleashing a shot which was cleared on the goal line but only as far as Bamgbose Odunayo who fired in from close range to put the blue army 2-0 up.

Embassy came all out in search of a response, however De AbdulBest’ defense who are yet to concede look to have answers to every question thrown at them, despite mounting pressure on De AbdulBest, it was the blue Army who were gifted the opportunity to go three up as Olushesi Lateef who lose ball and send in chip over the on rushing goalkeeper but the crossbar this time came to the rescue.

Embassy came close to getting a consolation late in the 87th minutes as Ganiu got on a pass from Solomon before unleashing a left footed strike which was properly dealt with by Adebyo Abiodun in goal for De AbdulBest.

De AbdulBest progressed into the final as the referee ended proceedings, 2-0 it ended.

De AbdulBest now awaits the winner between Gabademu versus SGL in the second semifinal on Wednesday evening.
