The nine-time African women champions have arrived back from United States of America where they participated in the 2021 Summer series invitational tournament.
According to the Media Officer of the Super Falcons, Oluchi Tobex, the team arrived Muritala Muhammed International Airport at 8:30pm (WAT) on Friday.
“We arrived by 8.30 PM (WAT). We just arrived Lagos, Nigeria through Amsterdam” she said in a post on her verified Facebook page.
She noted that all the foreign based players had departed for their various base via Amsterdam where the team was believed to have had a stop-over.
The Randy Waldrum led side lost their opening game against Jamaica with lone goal, got a 3-3 draw against Portugal and lost 2-0 in their last game to world number one female team, USA.
“The Summer Series have come at a good time for us, as we were able to see a number of new players. The girls also came up against strong teams and did not fare badly. Lessons have been learnt and I am delighted with our performance and general attitude on and off the pitch”said Waldrum after the game against USA team
The 2021 Summer Series tournament was meant to prepare the Falcons for their 2022 African Women Cup of Nations (AWCON) Qualifiers against Black Queens of Ghana expected to take place in October 2021.
Waldrum had earlier led the Super Falcons to three wins out of three games in his
first tournament with the team to Turkey in February.
