The Honorable Minister for Youths and Sports, Mr Sunday Dare has celebrated late Super Eagles icon Rashidi Yekini on his Posthumous Birthday.
The minister tweeted via his twitter handle.
“Remembering Rashidi Yekini: Today is the 56th Posthumous Birthday Of one of Nigeria’s greatest footballers. I celebrate him and may his soul continue to Rest In Peace. Rashidi Yekini (23 October 1963 – 4 May 2012)”.
Yekini scored 37 goals as a Nigerian international, and represented the nation in five major tournaments, including two World Cups where he scored the country’s first-ever goal in the competition. He was also named the African Footballer of the Year in 1993.
