“Looking at the current crop of Super Eagles players, I would say hundred percent we have the potential of winning the Nations Cup in Cameroon.

“I think we probably need to look at it from the midfield and forward, we have absolute world class players in talent in quality all over the field who can win the Nations Cup for Nigeria. We need to identify a solid back four to ensure that the game is tight.

“We need players that can shore up things and stay connected as a group.

“You don’t lose games when you don’t concede goals,” he concluded.

The Super Eagles of Nigeria will be gunning for their fourth African title after emerging champions at the 1980, 1994 and 2013 editions respectively.

The continent’s biggest football tournament was originally scheduled to be played in June and July 2021, but the CAF announced on 15 January 2020 that due to unfavourable climatic conditions during this period, the tournament would take place between 9 January and 6 February 2021.
