Super Eagles forward, Ademola Lookman has been nominated for the 2024 Ballon d’Or award, www.owosports.com.ng reports.
Lookman’s phenomenal performance in the Europa League final, where he scored a stunning hat-trick to lead Atalanta to victory over Bayer Leverkusen, earned him a well-deserved spot among the elite contenders.
The former Everton of England striker scored 17 goals and 8 assists in the 2023/2024 season.
The Nigerian is the only African player on the list and will compete against world football stars including, Vinicius Jr (Real Madrid, Rodri (Manchester City, Lamine Yamal (Barcelona), Kylian Mbappe (Paris Saint-Germain), and Erling Haaland (Manchester City)
Currently with the Super Eagles ahead of the AFCON 2025 qualifiers against Benin Republic and Rwanda, Lookman’s focus remains on leading his team to victory.
The main award ceremony will take place on October 28 at the Théâtre du Châtelet in Paris, where the awards will be presented.
