Super Eagles Players represented their clubs side in Europe Elite competition UEFA Champions League last night as Zaidu Sanusi scored for Porto, Calvin Bassey’s Ajax got hammered at home by Victor Osimhen’s Napoli and Rapheal Onyedika’s Club Brugge maintained their perfect start with a statement win.
Zaidu Sanusi was amongst the scorers for Portuguese Champions FC Porto as they stepped up their pursuit of a Champions League knockout stage push with a 20 victory over German side Bayer Leverkusen.
The Super Eagles left back gave his side the lead in the 69th minute before Brazilian teammate Galeno sealed the victory and recorded their first win in the group, moving second behind table toppers Club Brugge.
Super Eagles new boy Rapheal Onyedika impressed in midfield again as Club Brugge made it three out of three in group B after defeating Spanish side Atletico Madrid 2-0 at the Jan Breydel Stadion in Brugge on Tuesday night.
Raphael Onyedika who made his debut for the Super Eagles in their 2-1 defeat to Algeria at Oran last week produced some impressive show in midfield playing the full match, having 65 touches with 88% pass accuracy, 5/7 accurate long balls, 2 shots ,8/9 duels won, 3 tackles won, 2 interceptions, 1 clearance and 2 fouls won.
Nigerian Star Striker Victor Osimhen was absent as Napoli cruised to a 6-1 away victory over Calvin Bassey’s Ajax at the Johan Cruijff Arena in Amsterdam maintaining their position at the top of group A. With Victor Osimhen missing out via a thigh injury.
Calvin Bassey played 84 minutes as his side fell out to a two consecutive defeat in the Champions League after winning their opening game 4-0 to Glasgow Rangers which was Bassey’s former club.
