…Talks about life in Congo
Newly invited Nigerian defender Glory Edet says she is excited to be included in the Super Falcons folds for the first time in her career, Owosports.com.ng reports.
The former Bayelsa Queens defender was listed in Justin Madugu’s 21 man list for the 2024 Africa Women’s Cup Nations qualifiers against Cape Verde.
Edet who recently joined Congolese giant TP Mazembe from former Nigeria women league champions Bayelsa Queens said the invitation came to her as surprise as she wasn’t expecting the invitation at the time it came.
“I am so excited, the invitation took me by surprise. I am happy to finally be here, it is what I have always prayed for. I now have a big task ahead of me so I have to pick up from here”, She said to OWOSPORTS.COM.NG from the Super Falcons camp Praia, where they are preparing for the second leg WAFCON qualifiers against Cape Verde.
Talking about their 5-0 victory over Cape Verde in the first leg in Abuja she said; “The victory means a lot to us because it was our desire for us to have a lot of goals we could take to the return leg.
The Super Falcons will take on Cape Verde on Tuesday December 5th at the Estádio Nacional de Cabo Verde.
Glory Edet also spoke about how she settling down at her new club TP Mazembe but highlighted the language barrier as the major challenges she is faced with.
“Life in Congo is okay but I am still trying to adapt to the new home with the language and everything, it’s not easy when you go to a new place and you don’t understand what they are saying you just have to wait for one person who understands English to interpret. but not really bad though it’s okay.
I missed playing in the Nigeria Womens League but I have to move forward in my career” She concluded.
Glory Edet was part of the Bayelsa Queens side that won the Nigeria Women football league (NWFL) 2022, went on to win the CAF WAFU B Womens champions league qualifiers and also went to win bronze medal at the CAF Women’s Champions league in Morocco the same year.
