Tension has gripped the Super Eagles’ camp as players reportedly boycotted today’s training session over an unresolved bonus disagreement with the Nigeria Football Federation (NFF).
According to inside sources, the standoff is not connected to the team’s outstanding allowances, which the National Sports Commission has confirmed as fully cleared, but rather stems from a special request by the players ahead of the crucial World Cup playoff against Gabon.
The dispute revolves around the players’ demand for $15,000 as a winning bonus per leg of the playoff tie, totaling $30,000. However, the NFF is said to be offering $10,000 per match, a proposal the players have so far rejected.
Until a clear agreement is reached, the players have reportedly resolved to suspend training sessions and could potentially extend the protest to the upcoming playoff fixture.
Team officials, however, have distanced themselves from the players’ stance, clarifying that the issue is strictly between the players and the football authorities. They emphasized their focus remains on ensuring smooth logistics and technical readiness.
While the National Sports Commission has already intervened to calm the situation, efforts are ongoing to mediate a lasting resolution and restore harmony within the camp.
