From all indications and events that has unfolded ,Vandrezzer has been battered and bruised but still standing. Although their current situation is not what they had envisaged,yet circumstances has brought them to a point of an investment threatening condition.
After a tumultuous first stanza where the team had to battle issues around match broadcasting and other sundry challenges,it accepted to come upon a consensus and compromise reached with the league body after an earlier widely publicised withdrawal.
In the beginning of the second stanza,the team secured the service of Tony Bolus, former MFM FC of Lagos Coach to salvage their wrecking ship which has been battered and bruised by a lot of ‘systematic wounds’.
Bolus is yet to record a win for his new side after two matches.
The team again experienced yet another ‘unfavourable’ situation of officiating emerging from the defeat to Stationary Stores FC in their last game- It thus got the deserved judgement as the Referee who handled the match has now been suspended indefinitely- But the deed has been done already.
Now seating second to the last team on the table with 14 points from 14 games, the Lions of Naija has lost eight matches more than any other team in the group B1 of the NNL southern conference- indeed a turn of event and a poor run of form.
As the team welcomes Go Round FC on Saturday in one of the weekend’s fixtures, the pressing need to secure a win and move up from the red zone stops on the table of Coach Tony Bolus and perhaps his lads.
Go Round are second placed on the log with 26 points behind Shooting Stars’ 35 points.
Ngozi Elechi, the Technical Adviser of the Omaku base side had thrown a jab in a pre-match interview that the team wouldn’t let their NPFL promotion slip over and will be facing the Lagos side with the inspiration from their last game 2-0 victory against Ekiti United in their hands.
Employed to fix what was missing, Bolus is at the centre of rescuing the deteriorating situation of the club and put them back on track. But does he have enough time to plan with time already tickling away.
Relegation will be devastating to Vandrezzer FC who left Akwa Ibom State at the beginning of the season for a ‘football economical viable State like Lagos.
Back and forth in this submission and discourse, the question remains- When will it get cheering for the ‘Lions of the Naija’?
