U-17 FIFA WWC: Ajakaye Grabs Player Of The Match Award

Flamingos striker Opeyemi Ajakaye has been voted the Player of the Match in a four goal thriller against New Zealand.

The Flamingos of Nigeria ran riot Against the Oceanic country in their second group stage game on Friday lunchtime.

Opeyemi Ajakaye, who played in the entire match, used her cunning to create chaos from the left wing, where she operated, and gave her teammates multiple opportunities to score as the Flamingos earned their first group stage victory.

The 16-year-old who is currently Lagos state FA cup Most valuable player (MVP) took to her twitter handle to thank God for the award, dedicating it to God, the technical crew and her teammates.

“I dedicate my award to God, my teammates and coaches for an outstanding performance! Our collective effort made the difference today. Thank you to Nigerians back home for their support. Namaste! 🙏🏿⚽️🇳🇬,” Ajakaye wrote on twitter.

Flamingos continued their Knockout stage hunt as goals from Amina Bello, Miracle Usani, Taiwo Afolabi and Editing Etim gave the West African side a comfortable 4-0 victory over New Zealand.

Top of group B with three points, Coach Olowookere Bankole’s team will play Chile on Monday in the last group match.
