Nigeria U17 women’s team has arrived in the capital of India, Mumbai ahead of the quarter final encounter with the United States of America in the ongoing FIFA U-17 women’s world cup.
Coach Olowookere Bankole’s team who eyes a record breaking campaign in India, are set to become the first African team to reach the semi-finals of the U-17 women’s world cup if they defeat USA.
The team’s arrival was confirmed through a post from the Super Falcon’s twitter handle on Wednesday evening.
“✋Salaam Mumbai!.
“Our Flamingos touched down 🛬 earlier today ahead of our quarter final duel with the United States 🇺🇸 on Friday. We have already settled at our new abode, Fortune Hotel 🏨”.
“Here to make history!,” The post reads.
The Flamingos made it to the quarter-finals after finishing second in group B, with the West Africans beating New Zealand and Chile to gain six points from their three group games after opening their campaign to a 2-1 loss at Germany.
The game against the United States of America will see both nations lock horns for the very first time at the U-17 Women’s level.
DY Patil Stadium in Mumbai will be the venue for the quarter-final clash which will commence from 12pm Nigerian time on Friday.
