Super Eagles defender Zaidu Sanusi was in action as Portuguese side Porto forced Atletico Madrid to a fiery 0-0 draw against Porto in their Champions League opener at the Wanda Metropolitano Stadium on Tuesday evening.
After a stalemates first half, Atletico goalkeeper Jan Oblak saw his blushes spared when he misjudged an Otavio cross but saw the ball bounce off the inside of the post and away.
There was late drama with 10 minutes left, when Porto striker Mehdi Taremi had the ball in the net, but after a VAR check the referee adjudged the Iranian handled the ball over the line, leaving both sides deadlocked on one point in Group B.
Zaidu Sanusi alongside eight others were booked in the highly intensed game which also had defender Chancel Mbemba sent off deep into stoppage time for cynically fouling Antoine Griezmann as he looked to run through on goal, with Luis Suarez bending the resulting free-kick narrowly over the bar.
