By Onyekachi Chimezie

Victor Boniface continued his hot form in front of goal as he scored two for his side who had to fight back from a goal down to earn a draw in the UEFA Europa League on Thursday night.

The 23-year-old forward from Nigeria recorded his third goal in three games in the Europa League as his Belgian team drew 3-3 at Den Dreef Stadion.

The frenetic match in Heverlee began with Vtor Oliveira’s opening goal as the Portuguese team claimed the lead.

After that, Boniface equalized in the 20th minute with his second Europa League goal.

To give the visitors a two-goal lead going into halftime, Oliveira scored twice in the space of five minutes to put the away side ahead.

Before the hosts managed to steal a point from the game thanks to goals from Dante Vanzeir and Boniface.

The young player started his playing career with Real Sapphire Football Club in Lagos before moving across borders to play for Norwegian side Bodø/Glimt in 2019.

In August 2022, Boniface transferred from Bod/Glimt to Union Saint-Gilloise. During his time there, he made 48 league appearances, scoring 13 goals and dishing out three assists.

Union Saint-Gilloise, who are currently in fourth place in the standings with 22 points, will travel to KV Oostende on October 16 in the Belgian League.
