Watford Signs Maduka Okoye

English Premiership side Watford FC has announced the signing of Nigeria goalkeeper Maduka Okoye from Sparta Rotterdam, Owosports.com.ng reports.

The 21-year-old will officially join the EPL side on January 1, 2022 before being sent on loan to Sparta Rotterdam until the end of the 2021/22 season.

“We’re pleased to announce that an agreement has been reached to sign Maduka Okoye on January 1, 2022

“The Nigerian goalkeeper joins from Sparta Rotterdam where he will return on loan until the end of the 2021/22 campaign”, the club announced via their official social media handle.

The Nigeria International began his career with Bayern Leverkusen Youth team in 2012 before he joined Fortuna Düsseldorf Youth team in 2017 and was subsequently promoted to the first team in the 2018/2019 season where he made 34 appearance before leaving for Sparta Rotterdam in 2020.

Okoye who has won 11 caps with the Nigeria National team is expected to be in action when the Super Eagles file out against Liberia and Cape Verde in the final rounds of the Qatar FIFA 2022 Worldcup qualifiers later this Month.
