Head Coach of Nigeria National team Jose Peseiro, has expressed his disappointments after his team lost to Algeria in an international friendly on Tuesday.
After taking over as the Super Eagles’ head coach for the fifth time last night, the 62-year-old manager, who replaced Gernot Rohr since the latter’s exit last year, expressed his displeasure at losing his third straight international friendlies since accepting the position.
“I am sad because we lost. I don’t like to lose a match but I am here to do the job.
“I would have loved to play everyone against Algeria but I couldn’t because the rules do not allow that,” he responded when questioned about other team members who were not given a minute.
FC Lorient striker Terem Moffi, scored from close range after using his number 9 instincts to meet up with a loose ball inside the 6-yard box following a corner that gave the eagles the lead in the ninth minute of a match that saw Nigeria pay for a fantastic start early on.
“I think we deserved more because we did a good job, we had more shots and we created more opportunities than Algeria.
Despite the result, the Ex Portuguese International was happy with the players performance and character on the pitch after the referee’s poor display.
“We lost the game but I am very happy with what my players did on the pitch,” Peseiro added after being asked about the team’s overall performance,” he concluded.
