Wilfred Ndidi is set to miss this month’s crucial 2022 World Cup qualifying playoffs between Nigeria and Ghana, after picking up a knee injury in Leicester’s Europa Conference League game with Rennes in France.

Ndidi, who was in Leicester’s starting eleven against Rennes, had to go off in the 60th minute after sustaining the injury.

Speaking after the game Rodgers expressed disappointment over Ndidi’s injury, describing it as “disappointing”

“It was disappointing. Ndidi is a block tackle so his medial ligament in his knee, so we’ll see how that is.”

The least time to heal (medial ligament) is 3 weeks. He will likely miss the qualifiers vs Ghana.

Super Eagles coach, Augustine Eguavoen would not like this news as the growing concerns with injuries among the players keep pilling up.

Kenneth Omeruo and Sadiq Umar are expected to undergo medicals upon their arrival to camp to ascertain their fitness conditions ahead of the first leg in Kumasi on Friday.
