The Chairman, Kwara State TeqBall Association Yaradua Yahaya Jimoh has called on the Kwara TeqBall team to put in more work in a bid to surpass the success recorded in 2021.
Speaking on Tuesday at the Kwara State Complex Stadium Ilorin, where he hosted the team, Yar’adua lauded the team for the feat achieved in 2021 while urging them to do more in the new year.
The forum provided an opportunity for the players to share their thoughts on their performances last year and set target for 2022.
Kwara TeqBall team in August 2021 attended the first National Challenger Series in Abuja organized by the Nigeria TeqBall Federation where they had a remarkable outing surpassing all expectations as they were earlier tagged an ‘underdog’.
Yaradua in an exclusive interview with www.owosports.com.ng described the team’s achievement as remarkable,noting that every player who went for the tournament won at least a Medal for the state.
“It was a remarkable outing, all the players that played qualified for one medal or the other right from gold to bronze. One of our player, Victor Oyemande won six gold medals becoming the number one TeqBall player in Nigeria, number two in Africa and 13th in the world in the singles category numbers” said the Chairman.
“In the mix double, Victor also paired with Rashidat and came second after they where defeated by Plateau” added Yar’adua who stated that their performance highlighted Nigeria on the World map and earned them an invitation for the World Cup, which they couldn’t attend due to passport issues.
The Chairman assured the team of maximum support as he said the Teqball Federation would be organizing series of competition across the state to put the team in shape.
The chairman who also received a congratulatory message from the office of the Sports commission over the team achievement in the challenger series in August, thanked the Chairman of the commission for his continuous support to the TeqBall team and promised that the team will keep working hard to make the state proud.
