Kogi state is set to host the biggest basketball camp this December.
According to foremost basketball youth development expert, Samuel Oguche, the performing governor of Kogi state, His Excellency Governor Yahaya Bello has promised to empower thousands of youths through the Samuel Oguche Basketball Foundation.
“The Kogi basketball camp is strictly to empower youth and the governor of Kogi is passionate about youth development so to this end, we decided to stage this very important camp in the Confluence city”.
The former Nigerian international revealed that teams will come from all over the country to participate.
“Our project is never limited to just one part of the country, we have taken our camps to all the geo-political zones of the country and we expect kids from Kogi and its environs to participate”.
Oguche stated that Governor Yahaya Bello is using the avenue to take kids off the streets through basketball.
“The project is to mentor kids and take the youths off the streets and Governor Yahaya Bello is buying into that”.
Oguche gave reason why the December basketball camp is important to the basketball community in Kogi.
“Basically I’m planning a tournament in Kogi State in the first and second week of December. I’m inviting couple of teams from Abuja, Lagos, all over the country so people can together for a three-day tournament and kids camp”.
He hinted that a popular energy drink is also supporting the basketball camp coming in Kogi state.
“Bullet Energy Drinks are going to support me doing this stuff, they have been a worthy partner”.
Oguche told www.ckdmedia.ng that the Governor will donate a basketball court to a University in the state.
