Nigerian born, Benin Republic senior international, Isaac Loute, put up a man-of-the-match display to help his side, Rangers earn the bragging rights over visiting Akwa United with a 2-0 spanking in a pre-season friendly encounter.

The match which was watched by an appreciable number of fans at the Nnamdi Azikiwe stadium, Enugu, Friday, saw the coach Benedict Ugwu wards make their dominance count in the early part of the encounter as goalkeeper, Itodo Akor spilled a ferocious shot from over thirty meters taken by Loute and Dauda Madaki reacted the quickest to slot home on 10 minutes.

Tried as they could with their fluid midfield play that had Dare Ojo leading the assaults that were rebuffed by the home side’ troika of Christian Madu, Godspower Aniefiok and Ibrahim Olawoyin in the middle of the pack, the coach John Obuh lads could not make much impact in the opponent’ vital area.

The second stanza witnessed the same flow as the first but it was Isaac Loute’ well struck free kick from the edge of the box that was the icing on the cake for the Total/CAF Confederation Cup 2019/2020 hopefuls for a 2-0 score line that would have been more had Seka Pascal been more clinical with the opportunities that came his way.

Coach Ugwu said after the friendly encounter, “It was a good game for us as some of the players that have not tested action in our continental engagements had opportunities to display their skills and they did not disappoint. Akwa United gave us a good match with their midfield play but we did well to contain them.”
