The Association of Nigerian Women in Sports (NAWIS) has congratulated Olympic Silver medallist, Blessing Oborududu and Olympic Bronze medallist, Ese Brume for their outstanding performance which made Nigeria proud at the just concluded Tokyo 2020 Olympic Games.
The National President of NAWIS, Professor Florence Adeyanju revealed that both athletes succeeded in put their names and the country in the world map.
Professor Adeyanju said the support of NAWIS to the Nigerian teams remains paramount and unrelenting.
The former Vice President of Nigeria Volleyball Federation said, “I want to salute Blessing Oborududu and Ese Brume for putting smiles on my faces of over 200 million Nigerians across the world by winning medals.
“Both of you have registered Nigeria’s name in the annals of History. NAWIS hereby felicitates with all Nigerians, Women and Sports stakeholders on this Golden and Memorable feat.
“We also greet all those who participated but narrowly missed the podium and all the entire Team Nigeria. We wish them good luck in future events and support to Nigeria teams is paramount and unrelenting”.
Professor Adeyanju said the female athletes have always rescued the country whenever the country is finding it difficult to garner medals at various international championships.
She commended the organisers of Tokyo Olympic Games for it’s recognition of gender equity and for being gender sensitive in the programme implementation.
