Amusan Shines In Jamaica With 100m Hurdles Win In Racers Grand Prix

Nigeria’s World Athletic Record Holder, Tobi Amusan Wins The Women’s 100m Hundles At The Racers Grand Prix 2023 In Jamaica.

Amusan, the favourite in the women’s 100m hurdles event, demonstrated her class as she sailed over the barriers in a season’s best time of 12.57s dipping ahead of American hurdler Tia Jones (12.72s) with Jamaica’s Megan Tapper clocking 12.80s for third place.

The Racers Grand Prix is a World Athletics Continental Tour Silver-level series meeting held at Jamaica’s national stadium.

Amusan had endured a poor start to her season, losing to Puerto Rican Jasmine Camacho-Quinn who ran a world lead-time of 12.31s to win the Women’s 100 hurdles at the LA Grand Prix last month.

The 26-year-old Commonwealth gold medalist has raced at only three meets so far this outdoor season, but is ranked number seven in the world with a season’s best 12.59 seconds set at the Tom Jones Invitational in Florida in mid-April.
