Bendel Insurance have qualified for next year’s CAF Confederation Cup after they beat Rangers International to emerge champions of the 2023 Nigeria Federation Cup.
The Benin Arsenals pip six time champions Rangers International 1-0 over six-time in the final played at the Stephen Keshi Stadium, Asaba, Delta State on Wednesday.
Imade Osarenkhoe scored from the spot just before half-time after a Rangers defender was judged to have handled the ball in the penalty area, the player was subsequently sent off having picked up his second yellow card of the game.
It’s the 4th FA Cup title for the Bendel Insurance after winning the title in 1972, 1978, and 1980 and ended their wait for a major title since 1995 when they won the West African Club Championship
Bendel Insurance will get the N15million prize money, while Rangers will get N7.5m as the runners-up.
