Brilliant Magic Stars Fall By Lone Goal To FC Robo

Magic Stars fell 1-0 in their Group A1 opening season fixture against FC Robo played at the Legacy Pitch, of the National Stadium Surulere-Lagos on Sunday.

Mixed feelings for the Magic Stars lads who had a fair possession of the game and could have earned a point off FC Robo, but had to rue their misses as they lacked the cutting edge in front of the goal.

It was the first fixture of the group’s Matchday One and it lived up to the billing, with an end-to-end encounter as Magic Stars took the game to the home team in the opening quarter of an hour.

Magic Stars did hit the target but it was Robo FC that took a one-goal lead going in the changing room at halftime.

On the dot of 40th minute, Abdulsalam Sanusi punished the visitors, scoring the first season goal of the group.

The second half saw a better display from Magic Stars after the backroom staff introduced fresh legs and new match strategy into the game.

Mid-way into the game, the substitution could have paid off with Magic Stars almost getting the equalizing goal but FC Robo had their defenders and shot-stopper to thank.

A clear-cut chance to level up the game at 1-1 came the way of the lads in the 85th minute when they were awarded a penalty over an infringement in FC Robo box.

Muhammad Abdulgafar stepped up to take the spot kick but missed to the disbelief of his team and fans, as Robo FC goalie ended up keeping a clean sheet while his team earned their first 3points of the season.

Magic Stars will be up against Synergy on Matchday 2 at the Legacy Pitch this week.
