Nigeria’s representative at the maiden edition of the CAF Women’s Champions League, Rivers Angels suffered a heavy 3-0 defeat to Moroccan club, Association’s Sports of Forces Armed Royal, ASFAR FC in their opening game of the competition in Cario Egypt,
Sanaa Mssoudy made history as she registered the first hat-trick in the Champions League.
The defeat leaves the Rivers State based club in the bottom of Group B after South Africa side, Mamelodi Sundowns pipped Vihiga Queens 1-0 in the first group B match.
Ahead of the Champions League, ASFAR played 9 friendly matches, plus 2 national team matches in which 12 players of from the club participated in with the national team.
Rivers Angels will take on the South Africans in their second Group B match on on Tuesday, November 9, 2021.
