Nigeria U-20 ladies, The Falconets beat Cameroon U20 ladies 3-0 at the MKO Stadium in Abuja to qualify for the final round of the U-20 World Cup qualifiers, owosports.com.ng reports.
The Falconets haven held the Baby Lioness to a goalless draw in the first leg, began the goal rush as early as the 20th minutes with Robo Queens Esther Onyenezide writing her name on the score sheet, Precious Vincent doubled the lead in the 35th minutes while Esther Onyenezide complethed the rout by scoring her second of the game in the 72nd minutes.
The Falconets who are Africa’s most successful age grade women’s football team have qualified for all women’s U20 world Cup tournaments and have played in the final twice in 2010 and 2014
They made history by qualifying for the semi-final three times consecutively in 2010, 2012 and 2014, are however the first and only African women’s team to play in the final of any FIFA tournament with Asisat Oshoala claiming the golden ball and golden boot at the 2014 World Cup.
They opened the refurbished MKO Abiola stadium with a convincing victory and will wait to play either Senegal or Morroco in the final phase as they hope to qualify for the 10th FIFA U20 Worldcup appearance in Costa Rica 2022.
