Governor AbdulRahman AbdulRazaq has hailed the organizers of the Emir of Ilorin Cup Competition for positively engaging youth through the championship, stating that it’s resucitation is an unprecedented development.
Mallam AbdulRahman AbdulRazaq who was a special guest of honour at the opening ceremony of Emir of Ilorin Cup, noted the MOC have demonstrated true sons and daughters of the Emirate with the special way the coronation anniversary of the Emir is being celebrated.
The Chairman of the Governors forum also reaffirmed the commitment of his administration to sustain conducive environment for sports development.
While praying Allah to grant the Emir long life on the throne of his forebears, He Commended Ilorin Emirate Football Council for Identifying with him through grassroots football championship to recognize his immeasurable contributions to the maintenance of peace and order not only in Ilorin but Kwara as a whole.
Earlier, the Chairman of the main Organizing Committee, Alhaji AbdulRazaq Owolabi Wopa said the competition is put together to celebrate the Emir in a Unique way, adding that the Emir, Alhaji Dr Ibrahim Sulu Gambari has endorsed it to be an annual event.
Unilorin Warriors defeated Kwara Poly by a lone goal in the official opening encounter to kick off the three weeks uninterrupted football games across various Venuses .
Traditional rulers led by Balogun Fulani and Balogun Alanamu witnessed the opening Ceremony.
Others were the members of the 10th Kwara State House of Assembly led by the Chairman House on Sports , Honourable Rukaya Shittu, House Leader, Hon Barrister Abdulkadir Magaji, Hon Mariam Aladi, Hon Tundun Alanamu, Executive Chairman of the Sports Commission, Mallam Bola Magaji, football lovers within and outside Ilorin.
