Enyimba FC Slammed with Heavy Fines and Sanctions as Rangers Int’l Get all 3pts

The Nigeria Premier Football League (NPFL) has imposed severe sanctions on Enyimba International FC following a review of the official reports from the Match Day 35 fixture against Rangers International FC on June 9, 2024.

The NPFL found Enyimba Int’l FC in breach of several rules, including failing to ensure proper conduct, disrupting a live broadcast, throwing objects onto the field, encroaching onto the field, refusing to continue the match, and causing the disruption and discontinuation of the match.

Consequently, the club has been fined a total of N10 million (approximately $25,000 USD) and ordered to forfeit 3 points and 3 goals in favor of their opponent. The club must also identify and produce other players and officials complicit in the disruptive conduct for further investigation and sanctions.

The sanctions include:

– N1 million fine for failing to ensure proper conduct
– N5 million fine for disrupting a live broadcast
– N1 million fine for throwing objects onto the field
– N1 million fine for encroaching onto the field
– Forfeiture of 3 points and 3 goals in favor of their opponent
– N2 million fine for causing the disruption and discontinuation of the match

The club has 48 hours to either submit to the summary jurisdiction and sanctions or elect to be dealt with by a disciplinary panel. If they choose to appeal, they risk facing additional sanctions if the appeal is deemed frivolous.

This move by the NPFL aims to ensure a safer and more secure environment for players, officials, and spectators in Nigerian football.
