The former Presidential Candidate of All African Congress (AAC) in the 2019 general elections, Omoyele Sowore has described the recent influx of notable athletes towards Governor Yahaya Bello of Kogi State as a misplaced priority.
In a post on his social media handle, the activist and the founder of #Revolution Now movement said Bello’s parley with the Super Stars are happening at the ‘expense of the people of Kogi State.
Kelechi Ịheanachọ and Mikel Obi are among the latest Nigerian international to visit the Kogi State Governor.
“@67Kelechi(Kelechi Ịheanachọ) They’ve heard of it, appear before Yahaya Bello & (and) get shampoo/soap cut and joined together at the expense of the people of Kogi” said the publisher of Sahara Reporters News
He described all the players as opportunists who are now cashing in on the Governor in his bid to throw his hat in to the ring of the next presidential election.
“Opportunists are in a “gold rush” to Kogi. It was Mikel Obi the other day and now it is opportunistic Kelechi Iheanacho @67Kelechi. Crying shame!” He concluded.
Among many other notable athletes that have visited the Governor recently are UFC Champion, Kamaru Usman and group of ex-Super Eagles player.
The Governor had also in April organised a novelty match which was played at the Confluenc
Stadium Lokoja where ex-Super Eagles stars, like; Kanu Nwankwo, Peter Rufai, Jay-Jay Okocha, Finidi George, Taribo West, Tijani Babangida, Mutiu Adepoju and others were featured.
