Kwara United’s Isaiah Ejeh Eyes President’s Cup and Continental Return

Kwara United defender Isaiah Ejeh has set his sights on winning the President’s Cup and securing a return to continental football for his team.

In a chat with Owosports.com.ng, the 21-year-old, who has scored four goals this season, expressed his optimism about Kwara United’s chances in the President Federation Cup round of 16 clash against Abia Warriors on Wednesday in Ikenne.

“We are going to win Abia Warriors by God’s grace,” Ejeh said. “Our major focus is to go to the Continent, and we have lost it in the league, so our major focus now is to win the President’s Cup. That way, we can go to the continent through the President’s Cup.”

Ejeh also reflected on Kwara United’s difficult start to the season, saying, “Yes, that’s football for you; sometimes you start well and end badly, and sometimes you end well. But we have a very good team spirit, never to give up. We have a very good defense, that’s why we don’t concede anyhow, apart from Rangers, we are the only team that has lost nine matches, so we keep believing till the end of the season.”

On his personal performance, Ejeh said, “It’s never been an easy task, but I kept believing… I’m optimistic I’ll do more by God’s grace.”

Ejeh also revealed that he passed the captain’s armband to Mohammed Alao, despite being the most senior player on the pitch after Musa Olororo’s substitution, as a gesture to motivate the younger players. He also disclosed that this would be his last season with Kwara United, expressing his gratitude for the love, care, and opportunities the club has given him.

“Yes, I have captained the team that led Kwara United to the continent before. So, to captain is not the issue; I was just using it to motivate the younger ones on the pitch. Although this is my last season with United, I am grateful for the love, care, and everything Kwara United has given me” He concluded.

With his determination and winning mindset, Ejeh is an asset to Kwara United as they chase glory in the President Federation Cup.
