History was made on Saturday afternoon as Luton Town Football Club beat Coventry on penalties to secure promotion from the Championship to the Premier League for the first time since 1992.
Three Nigerians including Wilfred Onyedinma, Elijah Anuoluwapo and Gabriel Osho featured in the encounter and helped the club regains their premier league status for the first time in 31 years.
Gabriel Osho and Elijah Anuoluwapo were in the staring line up for the tie while Fred Onyedinma came in as a substitute in the promotion playoffs final at the Wembley stadium on Saturday.
Gabriel Jeremiah Adedayo Osho was born in Reading England on the 14th of August 1998 he is age 24. He plays as a defender and a midfielder for Luton Town a club he joined in November 2020 from Reading after completing a brief loan spell at Yeovil Town. He was a rock in defense in ensuring that Luton Town gets promoted to the premier League.
Elijah Anuoluwapo Adebayo is a striker. He scored eight goals and registered four assist in 43 appearances to help Luton Town return to the premier league.
He was born on the 7th of January 1998 in Brent, London. He has been with Luton Town since 2021 after joining from Walsall FC and has so far scored 28 goals in 100 matches for the club.
Wilfred Oluwafemi Onyedinma born 24 November 1996 in Lagos, Nigeria. Plays as a midfielder, he also played his part to help his team gain promotion to the premier league featuring in the penalty shoot out victory over Coventry City on Saturday having come in as a substitute.
He joined the club in the summer of 2021 from Wycombe Wanderers where he made 56 appearance scoring seven goals before his departure.
All three players are very much eligible to put on the jersey of the Super Eagles.
Luton will play in the top flight of English football for the first time since 1992, when relegation saw them narrowly miss out on the inaugural season of the Premier League.
They were relegated from the old first division that year, painfully missing out on being part of the Premier League’s inaugural season, which began just months later.
