….. As National council of sports development setup committee.
Postponed National Sports Festival which was earlier scheduled to kick Smstart from the 21st of March 2020 thereafter being suspended due to Covid-19 might be played before November 2020.
According to the communiqué released at the Extra-Ordinary National Council on Sports Development which took place virtually on Monday May 18, 2020.
The Council deliberated on a wide range of issues affecting Sports development in the country and
commended the Federal Ministry of Youth and Sports Development and indeed, the Honourable Minister, Mr. Sunday Dare, for convening the virtual meeting of the extra ordinary National Council of Sports during the COVID-19 pandemic to address critical issues affecting sports development in the country.
Also commended the government and people of Edo State for their investment and commitment towards the successful hosting a successful 20th National Sports Festival in the face of the current global health crisis.
Agreed that the National Sports Festival, Edo 2020, would take place in Benin City Edo State before November, 2020.
Agreed to make all necessary consultation with relevant government agencies in order to achieve this target.
Agreed that all the sports earlier approved to feature and score at the 20th National Sports Festival would be featured and scored whenever the games of the 20th National Sports festival are organized.
The Council however setup a committee with the following membership to work out the modalities for the successful organisation of the 20th National Sports Festival within 30-45 days.
The Committee members includes,

Chairman, Delta State Sports Commission m, South-South
Hon. Commissioner of Sports, Kogi State, North-Central,
Hon. Commissioner of Sports, Kaduna State, North-West
Hon. Commissioner of Sports, Gombe, North-East, Chairman Lagos State Sports Commission, South-West,
Rep. of the Presidential Task Force on COVID-19, Rep. of the Federal Ministry of Health, Rep. of the National Centre for Disease Control Dr. Simon Ebhojiaye -FMYSD Tunde Kazeem -Dir. of Sports Forum, Mr. Peter Nelson -FMYSD (Secretary).
They are however mandated to Interface with all relevant agencies to determine the infrastructure that must be put in place in order to host the 20th National Sports Festival before November, 2020.
Ascertain the level of COVID-19 infrastructure put in place by the Edo State Government as well as requirements to manage any the any foreseeable crisis that may arise as a result of the organisation of the 20th National Sports Festival;
Prepare a code of operations (COVID-19 Protocol) that would guide the athletes, officials, spectators, LOC, MOC and other relevant stakeholders towards the successful organisation of the 20th National Sports Festival;
They will also propose a date for the National Sports Festival.
