It was an explosive day of football at the Mobolaji Johnson Arena, Onikan Lagos in the matchday one of the NPFL Championship playoff which kicked off on Saturday.

In the first game of the day Enyimba and Remo Stars gave the Lagos fans some glimpse of what to expect as they played out an enterprising 2-2 draw to set the pace for the championship.

After a barren first half Enyimba FC got into lead courtesy of a well taken goal from Adiele Eriugo on the 60th minutes.

Just as we thought it would end in a victory for The People’s Elephant, captain Junior Nduka scored a late equalizer from the free-kick to send their fans into wide jubilation as it ended all square.

In the second game Ebube Duru’s second half penalty goal was the difference as the defending champions beat Sunshine Stars to a 1-0 win.

It was an evenly contested affair with Sunshine pushing for a late equalizer but the Pride of Rivers would hold on to get the maximum victory.

In the final game of the day ended in a stalemate as Bendel Insurance continued their unbeaten record extending 21 in the Nigeria Premier League this season.

Lobi Stars gave a fight but couldn’t breakdown the resilience Insurance defense.
