Chairman, Kwara State Scrabble Association, Mallam Aliyu Olumayowa Kabir says Scrabble is a sport to watch for in Kwara, considering the team’s victories in the ongoing 7th National Youth Games in Asaba.
Kwara’s Scrabble team delivered three gold and two silver medals in the National contest to come clean as one best in Asaba.
He said the National Youth Games has put Kwara state not only in the country’s map but in Africa, as he has received best wishes from colleagues and friends in the association of scrabble in Africa as a result of the podium finish performance of the team .
He commended Sports Commission under the leadership of Mallam Bola Magaji for his financial and moral support, noting that the gesture is overwhelming.
The Chairman who was elated over their impressive performance, believes the boy who did well, would be called to the National Camp for the Thailand Championship later in the year and hoped state government reward him with scholarship to motivate others
