Super Eagles to Commence World Cup Qualifiers Preparations on June 1

The Super Eagles will kickstart their preparations for the crucial 2026 FIFA World Cup qualifying fixtures against South Africa and Benin Republic on Saturday, June 1, in Uyo, Akwa-Ibom state capital. All invited players are expected to report to camp on the opening day, with training sessions set to commence in full swing, Owosports.com.ng reports.

Head coach Finidi George has already extended provisional invitations to his players, with the full list of invited players expected to be made public this week. The Super Eagles are looking to bounce back from two consecutive draws against Lesotho and Zimbabwe in their previous qualifiers.

The upcoming fixtures against South Africa’s Bafana Bafana and Benin Republic’s Cheetah will be played at the Godswill Akpabio Stadium in Uyo and the Felix Houphouet Boigny Stadium in Abidjan, respectively. With no wins yet in the qualifiers, the Super Eagles are eager to secure crucial points in these upcoming matches.

The Nigeria Football Federation (NFF) has confirmed that invited players will be contacted starting from next week, ahead of the camp opening on June 1. The team is poised to make a strong comeback in the qualifiers, and fans are eagerly anticipating a successful campaign.
