Moses Simon has expressed his sadness over the outcome of Nigeria’s match against Algeria on Tuesday night which ended in defeat for the Super Eagles.
The Super Eagles fell to an away defeat against the Desert foxes of Algeria in the second of their international friendly game in Algeria this international break after the Eagles’ 2-2 draw against the Algeria B team. last Friday.
While speaking to NFF TV after the final whistle in Oran, Moses Simon expressed disappointment regarding the result but insisted that the team picked up some positives.
“The game did not go the way we planned it but it’s part of the job, we learn every day and I believe we have picked a lot from it.
“We’ll know that the referee did not give a justice, of course, the coach said we should just forget about it, we should just play our game because people are watching we just needed to encourage, motivate ourselves, we played for pride, for our families, for ourselves and Nigerians,” Moses said.
The 27-year-old FC Nantes of France forward who was the captain on the night while concluding the interview stated that he believes in the team’s abilities and that there is more work to be done.
“We just gave ourselves a boast that we believe we can do it and I believe we did our best even though the game didn’t go as planned but we will just keep on working hard.
Algeria on home soil, came from a goal down to beat José Peseiro’s men 2-1. Terem Moffi opened the scoring early on but Algerian skipper Riyad Mahrez 41st minute penalty drew the tie level heading into the break before Youcef Atal’s long-range strike on the hour mark gave the north African side their third successive victory over Nigeria.
